Last night was one of those nights where I was able to roll up my sleeves, get a little dirty, and remind myself that my dad passed on some skills that need to be passed to the next generation. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I framed a house, or field dressed a bear, but those are both things I can also do if needed. No I simply diagnosed the reason my wife’s car would not start, and quickly resolved the problem. Sure replacing a battery does not exactly a mechanic make, but to be able to diagnose that it was definitely the battery, and not an alternator, or wiring issue does take a little know how. The kind of know how I got from hundreds of hours in the garage with my pops. So even though the last thing I had on my mind to do last night upon arriving home from a chaotic day in the pharmacy was to crack open the hood of a car, the self satisfaction of knowing that I took on the problem head on & solved it was good. And the exceedingly thankful hugs & kisses I received from my wife would be payment enough for my efforts, but that bill still remains unpaid. Maybe she is saving that for the weekendL
